HEARTS IN, HANDS-ON, OUTSIDE THE BOX CONSULTING+

Get to know us

We are Jarrett Lucas (they/them) and Sharon Stapel (she/her). We each have 20+ years' experience as leaders in which we have built, steadied, and scaled organizations, teams, and the reach of our work. We have also spent the last decade conspiring, dreaming, and transforming together in movements for a more just world. We’ve made (almost) every mistake, sometimes twice. Few things surprise us, and most things fascinate us. We have evolved many, many times throughout our careers, and we believe that change can be joyful, fun, expansive, and satisfying.

We founded Lucel in 2023, as a next step in our journeys to change and be changed. Lucel is a culmination of our desire to be in conversation with people who are engines of change and organizations that do good work. We love that this allows us to be engaged with a community of national and international nonprofits and social good corporations.

Our philosophy

Engineering is the application of a knowledge set to build or solve. It's rooted in contriving, devising, and imagining to an end. Wherever there’s a plan or possibility being advanced, there’s engineering; wherever there’s a system made or a problem being solved, there’s engineering. From healing our bodies to traveling the stars, engineering stands out as the well-informed, imaginative, iterative and fundamentally human process to create, explore, evolve, or simply become more whole.

At Lucel, we embrace our work as a beautiful and essential type of engineering, delivering solutions that are informed, imaginative, iterative, and fundamentally people-centered and purpose-driven.

Our approach

When it comes to problem solving or getting "unstuck," we look for the root of the issue, figure out how it impacts people within and outside of your organization, and use this insight to design practical approaches and solutions to persistent problems. We give honest guidance and will promote the right thing, even when it’s not the easy thing.

We’ve worked with many consultants and know what we would want from that process. We bring a distinct lens that things are often deeper than they appear, everything is connected, and we all—consultants and coaches, too—are going to grow during our time together. So, we approach each client with deep curiosity, meaningful conversation, and thoughtful reflection.
